2009-20010 Fundraising Campaign

STOWE EDUCATION FUND’S “VILLAGE STROLL” A HUGE SUCCESS!

If you happened to be on Main Street in the village of Stowe last Friday evening you would have seen large groups of enthusiastic “Strollers” traveling between five downtown retailers; tasting, sipping and shopping, all for a good cause. “Progressive Tasting and Village Stroll” raised $5,000 for the children of Stowe’s schools in this premier mid-winter event.  At a critical time for education funding in our town, this event was a good example of how when everyone works together good things happen for all!

Stores like Oxygen, Well Heeled Downtown, Ferro’s Jewelers, The Body Lounge and The Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery stayed open late to welcome 100 supporters to this first time event.  At each location guests were treated to appetizers from local restaurants – Michael’s on the Hill, Harrison’s Restaurant, The Cottage at Spruce Peak, Frida’s Taqueria and Norma’s at Topnotch.  Beginning at 6pm, with rotations in groups of twenty every 30 minutes, the stroll concluded with all 100 strollers enjoying Coffee and a Dessert Bar, complements of the Green Mountain Inn, as well as Chocolate Truffles from Laughing Moon Chocolates.  Additionally, guests were delighted to see a preview of the upcoming Stowe Middle School production of “Willy Wonka” which opens on February 17th through the 19th.  These young actors aided the cause by selling Willy Wonka Chocolate bars, SEF’s next promotional fundraiser.

“Share the Love” was the tagline for this highly successful event.  Because so many generous merchants, restaurateurs and guests of the event shared their love to make this happen, 100% of the sales went to the schools and the children of Stowe.  Everyone wins! This is a model for future events which SEF will continue to pursue.

Continuing to Share the Love this week and beyond, the SEF urges supporters of Stowe schools to remember the restaurants and retailers who hosted this wonderful evening and to patronize their establishments soon and often.  Please make reservations this week to dine at Michael’s on the Hill, Harrison’s Restaurant, The Cottage at Spruce Peak, Frida’s Taqueria, Norma’s at Topnotch and The Whip at The Green Mountain Inn.  And please shop this week at Oxygen, Well Heeled, Ferro’s Jeweler’s, The Body Lounge and The Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery and Laughing Moon Chocolates.

Together we really can make a huge difference!
